Imperfect action exceeds inaction. Every single time.
So many of us aspire to do something that reaches beyond our current knowledge and/or capabilities. Only a very small portion of us follows these ambitions.
Why?
It’s because we are afraid of making mistakes.
Since childhood, we have been indoctrinated by the idea that making mistakes is a bad thing. A lot of people who follow their ambitions, know that making mistakes is actually a good thing.
Some never consider the consequences and simply decide to go for it.
A mistake is where learning and growth happens. Making mistakes and failing is how we learn how to do things better. We even learn new things.
We understand that what we’re doing isn’t going to be perfect, but it’s still going to get done.
If you have something you want to accomplish, would you prefer to get started and figure things out along the way, or just sit back because you don’t know what you’re doing.
I know I prefer to just do it and figure it out along the way.
Most of us have no idea what we’re doing when we get started. We just do it and keep going. We make mistakes and learn from them. Then, we take what we learn and apply it to our journey, whatever that may be.
I will admit that I didn’t always think this way. 15 years passed me by before pursuing voice over. I didn’t know where to start and wasn’t sure I was good enough. Then, I realized I had nothing to lose and when the opportunity came, I took it.
Imperfect action exceeds inaction.
So take action.
It’ll be imperfect.
You will stumble along the way.
However, I guarantee anything you do will be far superior to doing nothing at all.
